KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court Bar Association has strongly condemned the registration of an FIR against advocate Abdul Fattah Chandio, advocate Riaz Ali Solangi and 15 other lawyers, terming it an abuse of process of law for allegedly attacking YouTuber Rajab Butt.
The association noted that the case was filed at the behest of a lawyer from outside Sindh without following proper procedure, which should have been referred to the Sindh Bar Council.
She pointed out that filing an FIR against fellow lawyers at the behest of a client is inappropriate and poses a serious threat to the independence of the legal profession. The bar demanded immediate corrective measures to safeguard the rights of the legal community.
Besides, the police registered FIR No. 2025/290 at the Municipal Court police station following the complaint of lawyer Ali Ashfaq. He alleged that on December 29, 2025, while accompanying his client Razaq Butt for a bail hearing in a blasphemy-related case, Butt was attacked near the West Building, inside the Municipal Court premises.
