When talking about Philip Rivers returning to the NFL at age 44, Favre thought he could have played at least one series until he was around 50 years old. Favre said he trained rigorously until he began to deal with his health problem.
“I’m probably like most people – I thought there was just one Parkinson’s disease and that was it. That’s not the case. There are many, many forms of Parkinson’s disease,” he said on “4th and Favre.” “And I have what’s called idiopathic disease, which is the most common. And I think the other thing that most people think of when they hear about Parkinson’s disease is they think of shaking.
“I get every once in a while, ‘Oh, you must not be too naughty because you’re not shaking.’ I have very few tremors. I have some, but it’s quite rare. But as I learned, my Parkinson’s disease has three different characteristics. One of these three side effects will be dominant. It’s cognitive and memory is one of them. Shaking and trembling are two. And the rigidity and rigidity are three in number. I specialize in rigidity and stiffness.

The former Green Bay Packers star said he wakes up stiff until he takes his medication.
“So when I wake up in the morning before I take my meds, I’m as close to a 2×4 as I can get. And once I take my meds, it’s like the muscles and joints kind of release their grip on me. When I’m tired, mostly towards the end of the day, I’m shaking a little bit. My cognitive memory – part of it, right now, it’s fine. As you well know, there’s no cure. I hear every once in a while, ‘Well, they’re five years away from a cure. I hope that’s the case. But I’m not holding my breath.’
Favre, 56, played in the NFL from 1991 to 2010. He played with the Packers, Atlanta Falcons, New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings during those 20 years.
