Police say woman killed near Landhi Hospital, unidentified man dies in Orangi town

Multiple road incidents have been reported on Karachi’s roads since the start of the new year, including near Landhi Hospital in Chowrangi, where a 26-year-old woman on a motorcycle was killed after being hit by a trailer carrying containers.

In another incident in Sector 11½ of Orangi Town, Hawagoath, a man was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle. Meanwhile, on Mehran Highway near a rice warehouse, a truck carrying logs overturned and disrupted traffic, but no casualties were reported.

Accident at Landhi Hospital

The accident took place on Friday morning near Landhi Chowrangi Hospital in Quaidabad police area when a trailer hit a motorcycle, killing a 26-year-old woman identified as Bushra.

Witnesses said some passers-by threw stones at the trailer, shattering its windshield, after which the driver fled. Police later arrived at the scene and shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for forensic formalities, while the motorcycle and trailer were seized.

SHO Quaidabad Muhammad Ali Shah said Bushra worked in a factory in Landhi Export Processing Zone and belonged to Okara, Punjab, where his burial is planned. He said family members had requested that the caravan remain in custody until after the funeral.

In another incident in Sector 11½ of Orangi Town near Zaitoon Madrasah, an unidentified 40-year-old man was killed in a road incident. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, while the police and the crime scene unit carried out an inspection. Authorities said preliminary information suggested the incident may have occurred at night in a collision with a heavy vehicle. As the victim could not be identified due to lack of fingerprints, the body was later shifted to Edhi mortuary after post-mortem.

Meanwhile, on Mehran Highway, near a rice warehouse, a truck carrying logs overturned, disrupting traffic. Traffic police said the accident was caused by potholes on the road. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was later removed to restore traffic.
