Police recovered four bodies, including two women, a man and a child, from a manhole near the Mai Kolachi area, officials said Friday.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Asad Raza said the bodies appeared to be between 10 and 15 days old.
He said the bodies had been shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities, adding that further investigations into the incident were underway.
Police officials later said initial investigations revealed signs of torture on the bodies, while traces of blood were also found inside the manhole.
Taking note of the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah ordered the police and relevant authorities to investigate all aspects of the matter and establish accountability.
He assured that the government would ensure justice for the affected families, saying that protecting the lives and property of citizens remained the primary duty of the government.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Home Minister has sought a detailed report from SSP Keamari, directing the authorities to ascertain the motives and circumstances of the killings.
He further ordered that those involved be identified, arrested as soon as possible and punished in accordance with the law.
SSP Keamari said the bodies were mutilated, adding that the process of identifying the victims had been initiated.
