ISLAMABAD:

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar vehemently defended the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments, saying the changes made to the Constitution have started bearing fruit.

Addressing the Rawalpindi Bar Association, the minister said the creation of the FCC – through the 27th Amendment – strengthened the federation as it ensured balanced representation of all provinces.

He questioned the basis of criticism against the amendments, arguing that a 13-member FCC, with equitable representation from the four provinces and a judge from Islamabad, promotes greater unity, transparency and fairness in the judiciary.
