Zara Larsson is still reflecting on a defining moment in her career, and she’s refreshingly honest about what comes next.
After his studio album Midnight Sun Received critical acclaim after its release in September, its viral title track went on to earn a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Pop Recording at the 2026 ceremony.
It’s Larsson’s first-ever nod to the Recording Academy, a moment she describes as both surreal and deeply empowering.
As excitement builds around the nomination, the Swedish pop star is already imagining what it might be like to be in the room on music’s biggest night.
But when it comes to preparing a Grammy acceptance speech, Larsson says she takes a very human approach.
“I haven’t really prepared a speech, word for word,” she said in a recent conversation with PEOPLE. Instead, she imagined the emotional weight of the moment, not the exact words she would say.
Larsson admitted that she has never attended the Grammys before, which adds to the mystery. She doesn’t know where she’s going to sit, what the stage looks like, or even what she’s going to wear.
What she does know is that if she was planning something, gratitude would come first.
She wishes to recognize the many people who contributed to bringing Midnight Sun to life, calling it “like a whole village, basically, that makes dreams come true.”
Yet Larsson doesn’t put pressure on herself to be polished or perfect.
“But I think I’ll just accept it. Words don’t matter much,” she said frankly.
Then, in true Zara fashion, she joked: “What if I go upstairs and laugh for two minutes? People are like, ‘Should we call someone?’ “Like, fuck.
Whether victory comes this year or later, Larsson is certain of one thing.
“I think it’s going to be crazy if it happens – or when it happens. One day it will happen, period.”
