Ramazan is scheduled to begin on February 19 and Eidul Fitr on March 21.

Forecasts based on astronomical calculations, the final announcement belongs to the Central Committee of Ruet-e-Hilal

Ramazan in Pakistan is expected to begin on February 19, while Eidul Fitr may be observed on March 21, according to astronomical projections shared by the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council on Monday.

Addressing the media, Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council General Secretary Khalid Ijaz Mufti said that the crescent marking the start of Ramazan is expected to be seen on February 18. “Based on moon birth and visibility parameters, the first of Ramazan is likely to fall on February 19,” he said, adding that the estimates are derived from astronomical calculations.

The Mufti stressed that the forecasts should not be considered final, noting that the Ruet-e-Hilal Central Committee alone holds the authority to announce the start of the Islamic months after the witnessing of the moon sighting.

Commenting on Eidul Fitr, he said the Shawwal moon is expected to be visible on March 20, which would place Eidul Fitr on March 21. “If weather conditions remain favorable, the chances of observing the moon will be greater,” he added.

He also shared his projections regarding Eidul Azha, stating that the first day of Zilhajjah would likely fall on May 17. “Accordingly, Eidul Azha may be observed on May 27,” he said.

The Mufti reiterated that all dates are provisional and based only on scientific estimates. “The final and decisive announcement regarding Ramazan and Eid will be made by the Ruet-e-Hilal Central Committee,” he said.
