ISLAMABAD:

The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on Monday issued arrest warrants against former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a case related to the recovery of liquor and arms, and ordered the police to begin the process of declaring him a proclaimed offender.

The hearing was held in the court of Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti. During the proceedings, Gandapur did not appear before the court. The court noted that the accused had failed to attend several hearings despite prior notices.

Expressing concern over his prolonged absence, the court issued arrest warrants without the possibility of bail. The judge also ordered the police to issue public notices in major national newspapers on the same day to complete the legal process required to declare the accused a proclaimed offender.

In its written order, the court said the accused’s repeated non-appearances were causing delays in the legal proceedings. The order added that under the law, additional measures had become necessary to ensure the presence of the accused before the court.

The prosecution informed the court that the case against Gandapur relates to the alleged recovery of liquor and weapons. The case is registered at Bara Kahu police station, Islamabad.
