- Motorola unveils the Razr Fold
- 8.1-inch internal screen, with a 6.6-inch cover screen
- 5 cameras, including a 20 MP internal front camera
Perhaps emboldened by the warm reception given to its Razr Ultra, Motorola is expanding its lineup (both in numbers and physically) with an all-new Motorola Razr Fold.
Announced at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, the Razr Fold takes Motorola into foldable tablet territory, but with its signature style and a few photography tricks it learned from the impressive Razr Ultra. It’s also one of the largest foldables, with an 8.1-inch unfolded screen and a 6.6-inch cover screen.

There aren’t many details about these displays beyond size, although Motorola lists the large flexible display as LPTO, which should mean it will offer a variable refresh rate that can range from 1Hz to 120Hz, and would put it on a solid competitive footing against the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7’s main display.
However, one area where the Motorola Razr Fold is already poised to outperform its main competitors is in creativity. The new device will support Moto Pen Ultra typing and palm rejection. Although Motorola hasn’t confirmed, this would indicate a scanning layer, something Samsung lost on its now ultra-thin Z Fold 7.
The cameras also look pretty impressive. There are five in total, including a 50 MP ultra-wide that also supports macro photography, a 50 MP 3x optical zoom, and a 50 MP primary wide-angle camera.
Motorola is also pushing the boundaries a bit on the remaining cameras. There’s a 20 MP internal camera on the main screen (double what Samsung offers on the Z Fold 7) and a powerful 32 MP selfie camera on the cover screen.
We were impressed with the Razr Ultra’s photographic capabilities, so I expect good things from these lenses. We know the cameras will support Dolby Vision video capture.
Details on things like the processor, RAM, actual size, and weight are subsequently scarce (provided the images depict a relatively slim device). Motorola promises to provide more details, such as pricing, in the coming months.
There is some promising news on the software front, like on-device AI, multitasking, adaptive interfaces, and useful features like “Catch Me.”
There will be a few Pantone inspired color choices: Blackened Blue and Lily White.
Still, we’ll have questions, like why is the camera bump so big (even though we think it’s to support all those high-megapixel cameras)? And will the Razr Fold also feature the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite?
The good news is that we should take a closer look at the handset this week at CES.
