- Reliable Sources Suggest Nintendo Switch 2 Reveal Could Happen Soon
- Leaks suggest we should expect a hardware-focused trailer later this week
- This matches the strategy used for the original Nintendo Switch
At this point, I’d forgive you if you’re sick of all the Nintendo Switch 2 rumors and leaks, but luckily it looks like we won’t need to wait much longer for an official reveal of the console.
Several credible sources have claimed that the system will be unveiled this week. One such source is Tom Warren, editor-in-chief of The Verge, who says in a recent post on X/Twitter that he’s “heard it should be the Switch 2 reveal this week.”
In case it wasn’t obvious from my Notepad tease last week, I heard this should be the Switch 2 reveal this week 👍 https://t.co/2m3ZEW2kyfJanuary 13, 2025
According to gaming site VGC, the Nintendo Switch 2 will likely be revealed in a “two-part” format. The first part would focus on the console itself, detailing the hardware features without exploring the software offering in depth. This would then be followed by a second trailer at a later date, where the upcoming launch library would be showcased.
This matches the strategy the company used with the original Nintendo Switch. You may remember that the console was first shown off in a three and a half minute trailer on October 20, 2016. We saw many of the console’s features in action, as well as a handful of games to come which were briefly visible. on different screens.
This was then followed by a fuller reveal on January 13, 2024, which introduced us to upcoming games like Arm And Splatoon 2.
It seems very plausible that Nintendo would choose to take a similar approach this time around, potentially introducing features like the mouse-like Joy-Con optical sensors. This could be a very exciting week for Nintendo gamers.
