Kelly Clarkson Details Her Kids’ Routines in Rare Update Since Ex-Husband’s Death

Kelly Clarkson has revealed she had a “really special” time with her two children as they dealt with the loss of Brandon Blackstock, the singer’s ex-husband and father of the children.

During a Q&A session with fans, The Kelly Clarkson Show the host answered a question about her children, daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington “Remy” Alexander, nine.

“Hug”, the American idol one alumna answered the question about the one thing she does every day that brings her joy. “My kids, they’re 9 and 11. Kind of a special little fun scene where they can wipe their butts, but they’re still little enough to like hugs and cuddles.”

Hinting at tough times for their family, she added: “There’s been a lot going on for our family recently, and so I’ve been allowing my kids to sleep in with me for a bit.”

“It’s my two dogs, my two kids and me. It’s a lot,” she continued. “It’s been really special, because…the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So it’s probably my favorite time of the day.”

Brandon Blackstock died in August 2025, three years after being diagnosed with melanoma, or skin cancer.

Meanwhile, Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce in 2020, after seven years of marriage. Although its separation from Blackstock was finalized in 2022.

At the time, a representative for the late talent manager said People Magazine that Brandon “courageously battled cancer for over three years,” noting that he died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.
