Yeison Jiménez, one of Colombia’s most beloved popular music stars, died at age 34 after a plane crash just hours before his concert.
According to The Sunthe singer was heading to Medellín on Saturday, January 10, for a concert, when his plane — believed to belong to Jiménez’s YJ Company SAS — crashed shortly after takeoff at 4 p.m. The accident killed all six people on board. The other victims were identified as Jefferson Osorio, Juan Manuel, Oscar Marín, Weisman Mora and Captain Fernando Torres.
Its photographer, Mora, shared a video from inside the plane shortly before the crash. Images obtained by The Sun later showed the wreckage engulfed in flames as emergency services rushed to the scene.
Shortly after the incident, the Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics announced the Jiménez’s death was later confirmed in a statement from his representatives posted on his Instagram.
“With a heavy heart and indescribable grief, the organization and the team of Yeison Jiménez have deep regret to announce his death,” reads the message, describing the musician as “a human being full of dreams and courage, who transformed his story into a source of hope for thousands of people.”
The Technical Directorate of Accident Investigation is investigating the accident. Jiménez is survived by his wife and three children.
