Owen Cooper makes history as youngest Golden Globes winner

Owen Cooper reached a milestone by becoming the youngest person to win a Golden Globe Award.

The 16-year-old star won Best Supporting Male Actor on Television for his role in Adolescence like Jamie Miller.

After receiving the award, Cooper expressed his gratitude for the support he received for his debut role in his acceptance speech.

“Wow, being here with a Golden Globe, it doesn’t seem real at all,” he began. “What an incredible journey me and my family have had. »

He added: “We are forever grateful for what these people have done for me and my family. What started out as, what I thought [was]’I could be good, I could be horrible. I never know. So I took a risk and took drama classes.”

Speaking about his experience of taking drama classes, Cooper revealed he was “the only boy there”. and it was “embarrassing”.

The British actor continued, “But I managed to get through it, and I’m still a learner. So I’m still learning every day. I’m still learning from the people that I’ve sat in front of, from you who have inspired me.”

He then thanked Netflix for casting him in the series, before concluding: “Bring on 2026. You will never walk alone.”

Cooper faced Billy Crudup (The Morning Show), Walton Goggins (The White Lotus), Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus), Tramell Tillman (Severance) and Ashley Walters (Adolescence).

Following his major victory, Cooper is set to make his big screen debut as young Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights released February 14.
