PM orders digitalization of Hajj process

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday directed officials of the National Information Technology Board (NITB) to ensure digitalization of all necessary steps of Hajj to facilitate pilgrims this year and provide easier access to government facilities for the masses through technology.

He chaired a review meeting on issues relating to NITB here, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The Prime Minister appreciated the extensive preparations made by the Ministry of Information Technology and other concerned ministries for setting up Asan Khidmat Markaz in the federal capital.

He also added that he would soon hold a review meeting on the QR-based feedback system for overseas Pakistanis.

During the briefing, NITB officials informed the Prime Minister that after the appointment of the new CEO of NITB, the entire structure of the institution was being reorganized in accordance with contemporary requirements. However, the officials informed that all preparations have been completed to open Asan Khidmat Markaz for the citizens of the federal capital.

“A new secure application for all government sector institutions will be launched soon. Additionally, an integrated One Patient One ID system is in the final stages of preparation for timely and better service delivery in government hospitals,” officials said at the briefing.

Officials believed this system would improve hospital performance and provide better patient care. They added that an analytical dashboard for the judiciary using Big Data was also under development.

It was noted that NITB managed over 145 government websites, over 126 portals and 31 mobile phone applications.

NAVTTC

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the recent performance of NAVTTC and asked officials to set new targets for technical and vocational training programs, with the aim of improving results and ensuring implementation of the Apprenticeship Act.

While chairing a review meeting on the country’s new vocational training ecosystem, the Prime Minister reviewed the ongoing NAVTTC programs in detail.

He said providing international certifications to Pakistan’s workforce to improve global competitiveness was a welcome development.

He asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis to accelerate their efforts to increase the absorption of Pakistani skilled manpower in the Gulf countries.

The Prime Minister highlighted that Pakistan’s youth possessed immense potential and a comprehensive program had been launched through NAVTTC to harness these capabilities.
