Amid relentless efforts by security forces to purge the country of the scourge of terrorism, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa politicians have agreed on the need for a united front, beyond political stripes, against the extremist philosophy of the groups terrorists.
During an interaction with visiting Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir in Peshawar, politicians belonging to different political parties pledged consensus on the need for one voice political and public support against the scourge of terrorism.
“Political representatives have shown with great clarity their unwavering support for the armed forces and the LEA. [law enforcement agencies] in the national fight against terrorism and agreed on the need for a united front, beyond political colours, against the extremist philosophy of terrorist groups,” the army’s media wing, ISPR, said. in a press release.
The army chief also made it clear that any attempt to disrupt peace in the country would be met with “decisive and overwhelming force.” The reaffirmation of anti-terrorism resolve coincided with the success of an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Kacchi district of Balochistan, which left 27 terrorists dead. A day earlier, nine Khwarij were eliminated in two separate IBOs in North Waziristan district of KP.
“The enemy may try to sow discord and fear, but we will not give in. Hostile elements will be dealt with with an iron fist. General Asim praised the “unwavering determination and unparalleled sacrifices” of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, who have played a key role in dismantling terrorist networks and thwarting their nefarious agenda.
“As we stand united against the forces of evil, I am immensely proud of the remarkable achievements of our security forces. Thanks to their supreme dedication, courage and sacrifice, we have succeeded in degrading the operational capabilities of terrorist organizations, both within and within our borders. beyond,” he said.
“Our forces have relentlessly pursued and eliminated key terrorist leaders, dismantled their infrastructure and neutralized their cells, sending a clear message that terror has no place in our country. This war is ongoing and we will fight it its logical conclusion, InshAllah,” the army chief added.
General Asim further highlighted the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies to ensure safety and security of citizens, foil numerous attacks and maintain peace and order. “Each operation testifies to the courage, professionalism and operational readiness of the security forces, which continue to thwart the growing threats posed by terrorists,” he added.
In his year-end press briefing, DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said the security forces had carried out a total of 59,775 operations in 2024, noting that Pakistan had made many sacrifices in its fight against terrorism.
“During these successful operations, 925 terrorists, including Khawarij, were sent to hell while many were arrested,” he said on December 27 last year, pointing out that the number of terrorists killed was the largest in the last five years. He added that “more than 179 operations” were being carried out daily by the Pakistani army, law enforcement agencies, intelligence agencies and police.
The army chief praised the “exceptional morale” of the troops, who remain firm in their commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation. “The Pakistani armed forces and law enforcement agencies constitute an unwavering force, resolute in their mission to protect the motherland and its people,” he reiterated.
