Duchess Sophie has quickly become one of the most active figures in the royal family so far in 2026.
Highlighting her busy schedule, the office of King Charles III shared a new video of the Duchess of Edinburgh on the royal family’s official social media accounts on Tuesday (January 13). The footage, originally published by England Hockey, captured moments from Sophie’s visit to the national sports center at Bisham Abbey the day before.
“England and Great Britain Hockey were honored to welcome HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh to the National Sports Center at Bisham Abbey yesterday,” the caption read. Sophie has been the patron of England Hockey since 2006.
The video showed highlights of the visit, including the Duchess taking the field and trying her hand at hockey. She was also seen visiting an indoor gym, where she chatted with staff and gym members during the shutdown.
Additionally, the royal family’s social media also posted a collage of photos from the visit with the caption: “Yesterday the Duchess of Edinburgh visited @englandhockey to meet members of the senior men’s and women’s teams.”
This outing marked Sophie’s second official engagement of the year. Four days earlier she had visited The Lighthouse charity in Woking. During this visit, Prince Edward’s wife helped staff prepare for the charity’s move and also toured the new site.
