Timothy Busfield, whose whereabouts are not yet known, has turned himself in to the police.
“Tim voluntarily came before authorities in New Mexico after traveling across the country to confront these false and deeply disturbing allegations,” his attorney, Stanton “Larry” Stein, said in a statement obtained by Popular magazine.
Earlier on January 13, the actor and director visited the Metro Detention Center, as stated by Gilbert Gallegos, director of communications for the Albuquerque Police Department.
Busfield, Melissa Gilbert’s husband, faces two counts of criminal sexual conduct with two minor boys and one charge of child abuse.
Pursuant to the arrest warrant, the twin alleged victims met Busfield on the set of Fox series, The cleaning ladyafter Busfield joined as director in season 2 (airing 2022).
“He is innocent and is determined to clear his name,” Stein continued. “As the criminal complaint reflects, after her son was kicked off the show, the boy’s mother vowed ‘get back at Timothy Busfield.’ What followed appeared to be a calculated effort to build a case, driven by animosity and not fact, despite prior investigations that found no evidence of wrongdoing.”
Busfield’s attorney also provided the outlet with a statement from Christina McGovern, the independent outside investigator who was retained by Warner Bros. Television to look into allegations of on-set misconduct.
“I have conducted an independent and thorough investigation into all allegations known to the Studio at the time,” McGovern’s statement read.
“Warner Bros. has given me complete discretion in my investigation. Based on what has been alleged and all evidence collected, including the statements of several witnesses, I have found no corroborating evidence that Mr. Busfield engaged in inappropriate conduct or was alone with the twins on set.”
“The allegations against Tim are completely false, and we will fight to the end until the truth prevails,” Stein added.
Previously, Busfield refuted all allegations against him, according to video obtained by TMZ. The actor said in the video that he “did nothing wrong.”
“Hey everyone, it’s Tim,” the video begins. “I’m sure most of you know, who are watching this, that I was ordered to come to Albuquerque – I’m here now. I got a call Friday night, I had to get a lawyer. Saturday I got in the car, I drove 2,000 miles to Albuquerque. I’m going to confront these lies. They’re horrible.”
“It’s all lies and I didn’t do anything to these little boys and I’m going to fight,” Busfield continued. “I’m going to fight with a great team, and I’m going to be exonerated, I know it, because it’s all so false and it’s lies.”
“So hang in there, and hopefully I’ll be back soon and back to work,” Busfield concluded. “I love everyone who supports me, thank you.”
