- Marantz expands its premium AV lineup with new preamp and amp
- Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, AURO-3D and 8K
- $4,000 / £3,500 (around AU$7,020) each
If you thought last year’s Marantz AV 20 and AMP 20 were desirable, wait until you see (and hear) what the legendary audio brand decided to do next. The new Marantz AV 30 and AMP 30 are even more sophisticated – and they’re more affordable too.
“Affordable” is relative here – you’re still looking at $4,000 / £3.5,000 for each – but that’s significantly less than the AV 20 and AMP 20, which launched at $6,000 / £4,750 (around AU$9,880) each.
Marantz AV 30 and AMP 30: key features
The AV 30 features Analog Devices’ most powerful SHARC dual-core DSP chipset, coupled with high-quality 32-bit DACs. It supports Hi-Res Audio, Dolby Atmos, IMAX Enhanced, DTS:X and AURO-3D, and features Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room calibration and optimization. There are also optional Dirac Live, Dirac Bass Control and Dirac Active Room Treatment, with support for up to four fully independent subwoofers.
The AV 30’s seven HDMI inputs support up to 8K/60 Hz or 4K/120 Hz, and there are multiple analog and digital inputs. The HDAM SA-2 preamplifier stage can deliver up to 11.4 channels via RCA or XLR and runs Marantz’s HEOS system with Roon Ready, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth.
The AMP 30 is a cold-running, six-channel power amplifier with 200 W per channel into 8 ohms, and it supports reconfiguring pairs of 200 W amp channels into bridged load configurations with up to three 400 W channels. It also supports bi-amping up to three speakers and can be used to upgrade an existing AV 10 or AV 20 based system for more large-scale home theater.
The Marantz AV 30 has a recommended price of $4,000 / £3,500 (around AU$7,020) and the Marantz Amp 30 is also $4,000 / £3,500 (around AU$7,020).
