  • Western officials warn that a US military strike could be ‘imminent’.
  • European and Israeli officials say Trump appears ready to intervene.
  • Tehran threatens reprisals against American bases in the region.

Iran has closed its airspace to all flights except international flights to and from Iran with permission, flight tracker site Flight radar24 » said Thursday, as tensions between Tehran and Washington remain high.

The notice is valid for a little over two hours, Flight radar24 said on his social media profile.

The development comes after a Western military official said Reuters On Wednesday, “all signals indicate that a US attack is imminent.”

The official added: “[…] but this is also how this administration behaves to keep everyone on their toes. Unpredictability is part of the strategy.”

Two European officials said a US military intervention could take place within the next 24 hours. An Israeli official also said it appeared Trump had decided to intervene, although the scope and timing remained unclear.

US President Donald Trump, in his recent statement today, signaled a cautious allaying of fears that the crisis in Iran could escalate into a broader regional confrontation.

Trump said he had been told that killings in Iran’s nationwide crackdown on protests were easing and that he believed there were currently no plans for large-scale executions.

When asked who told him the killings had stopped, Trump described them as “very important sources on the other side.”

The president did not rule out possible American military action, saying that “we will monitor the process” before emphasizing that the American administration had received a “very good statement” from Iran.

In a television interview Monday, Trump warned that the United States would take “very strong action” if Iranian authorities carried out executions of protesters they had arrested during widespread unrest.

In response, Tehran warned neighboring countries hosting US troops that it would retaliate against US bases if Washington followed through on its threats to intervene in protests in Iran.
