Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar said that the ongoing negotiations are the same as those underway with the government and on January 16 they will present two written demands to the government.

According to Express News, while speaking to the media outside Adiala Prison, lawyer Gohar said judges sometimes delay their decisions because they need time to draft them. “Yesterday we were informed that a decision would be made,” he added.

He further mentioned that Imran Khan was asked to arrive at 9 am and as soon as his lawyers arrive, he will show up. “Since I have been in this prison, no trial has started before 11 a.m.,” remarked lawyer Gohar.

Lawyer Gohar stressed that no agreement was in the works. “If such an agreement was reached, we would not hide it from the public. The negotiations are the same as those with the government.”

Asked about the recent meeting between the Army Chief and Ali Amin Gandapur, Barrister Gohar explained that such meetings are ongoing, mainly on law and order situations, and that maintaining working relations is essential.

Yesterday, lawyer Gohar on Monday dismissed speculation that the delay in the verdict of party founder Imran Khan was due to a deal.

Lawyer Gohar clarified that the decision was postponed by the judge at his discretion, and not due to negotiations or a political agreement.

“We were waiting here today in Adiala, but the court staff informed us that the decision would be announced on January 17,” said lawyer Gohar.

He added that the attitude of the lower courts was inappropriate and the charges against Imran Khan were fabricated to put pressure on the PTI founder. Lawyer Gohar further said that any rumors regarding a deal were unfounded.

The wife and sister of PTI founder Imran Khan have dissociated themselves from the process of talks between the party’s negotiating committee and the federal government, it is learnt.

A PTI source told The Express PK Press Club that the PTI founder had clearly asked the party’s negotiating committee to contact and negotiate with the government committee as per its directives.

The source said the PTI founder’s wife Bushra Bibi and sister Aleema Khan were in touch with the negotiating committee and had given their suggestions. This put the committee in a difficult situation as to who to follow.
