- 10W wide dispersion battery-powered speaker
- Two channels, numerous instrument ports, built-in effects and Bluetooth
- $199 / £169 (around AU$339)
Music industry legend Roland has announced a brand new model in its Cube Street line of portable speakers, and it offers some very impressive specs for a very reasonable price.
Although the Cube line is made for musicians, you don’t have to be a musician to know it: it’s the go-to choice for buskers, pop-up venues, and – at least in my town – fire-and-brimstone street preachers.
The new Cube Street Mini should delight all those potential buyers – and since it’s also a Bluetooth speaker, it’s ideal for listening to music when you get home.

Roland Cube Street Mini: main features and prices
Roland is the parent company of the big Boss when it comes to guitar effects, and some of that effects expertise is evident in the Cube Street Mini’s built-in reverb, delay, and chorus effects. The output power is 10W and the speakers are a 5-inch woofer and two 0.5-inch tweeters.
It’s a dual-channel system that lets you connect a mic and an instrument at the same time, and the 2.1 speaker system promises wide sound dispersion. The main channel is designed for a guitar, mic or stereo instrument, and the second is a mic channel with an XLR/TRS input.
You can also stream via Bluetooth 5.2, and there’s a mini stereo output jack for headphones or connecting to a recording device to capture the performance. The Street Mini features a built-in flip stand and carrying handle, as well as an optional carrying case.
This type of style is very popular at the moment: the excellent LG Stage 301 was designed with artists in mind, while the upcoming Fender Audio Elie speakers (which impressed my colleague Matt Bolton after a first listen at CES) are also packed with instrument connection options.
One of the main reasons for the Cube’s popularity is that battery power means buskers and other entertainers don’t need to find a power outlet to play. And the battery life here is seven hours, charging via USB-C.
The Cube Street Mini offers impressive bulk in a very portable case: not including its carrying strap, it measures 274mm wide, 110mm deep and 192mm high and weighs 2.2kg / 4.85lbs.
The Cube Street Mini has a street price of $199 / £169 (around AU$339).
