Prime Video has released the first official image of Sophie Turner as Lara Croft for its upcoming film. tomb Raider TV show.
Uploaded today (January 15) to the streamer’s various social media accounts, the professional snap shows Turner wearing Croft’s iconic costume. Indeed, from the teal tank top and red-tinted sunglasses to the chunky belt and double classic handgun holsters strapped to each leg, Turner certainly looks the part in Croft’s latest live-action reimagining.

The unveiling of the image comes five months later Amazon announced that Turner would play Lara Croft in its tomb Raider TV adaptation.
At the time, longtime fans of the action-adventure game franchise were less than impressed with Turner’s hiring. However, in the hours since this image was first posted online, many have turned around and had only positive things to say. Indeed, a thread on r/tobraider is full of users praising Turner’s resemblance to Croft and the seriousness with which Amazon is taking its small-screen adaptation.
This is certainly a marked change in tone from tomb Raider enthusiasts of the series developed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. And, with Amazon confirming that cameras have started rolling on the new Prime Video show, the countdown is officially on for its eventual release on one of the world’s best streaming services.
Who else is in the cast of the Tomb Raider TV series? And when will it be released?
At present, it is impossible to answer this last question. Amazon has indicated when its tomb Raider The TV show will see the light of day but, with principal photography underway, we can’t rule out a mid-to-late 2026 launch.
As for the other question, Amazon has confirmed that four famous faces will star alongside Turner on January 6.

These notable additions to the cast are acting icons in Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie and Bill Paterson. This quartet and Turner are joined by seven lesser-known individuals – but, thanks to a recent press release from Amazon MGM Studios, we know who each actor will play:
- Martin Bobb-Semple as Zippertechnical support and long-time friend of Lara Croft
- Jason Isaacs as Atlas DeMornayLara’s uncle
- Bill Paterson as Winstonthe long-time butler of the Croft family
- Jack Bannon as GerryLara’s personal pilot and snack collector
- John Heffernan as Davida burned-out government official who finds himself embroiled in Lara’s unusual world.
- Célia Imrie in the role Francinehead of advancement at the British Museum, focused solely on raising funds and glasses of champagne
- Paterson Joseph as Thomas Warnera high-ranking government official brought in to clean up an almighty disaster
- Sasha Luss as Sashaa fierce and deeply competitive new opponent for Lara.
- Juliette Motamed as Georgiaa dedicated and loyal curator at the British Museum, dedicated to the “proper” preservation of history
- Sigourney Weaver in the role Evelyne Wallisa mysterious, high-flying woman who wants to exploit Lara’s talents
- August Wittgenstein as Lukean illegal raider who shares his history with Lara in many ways
It remains to be seen how all but three of the above characters – Zip, Atlas and Winston appeared in various films. tomb Raider games – will factor into the story Prime Video will tell. I am sure we will learn more in the days, weeks and months to come.
