Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir underlined the unique bond between the people and the army, rejecting foreign rhetoric attempting to create divisions, the military’s Inter-Services media wing said Public Relations (ISPR).
Speaking in Peshawar during a discussion with political leaders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, General Asim Munir said, “There is a special relationship between the people and the army. False narratives of divide are fundamentally driven by specific agendas from abroad.
The army chief reaffirmed Pakistan’s political priorities, saying: “Our policy is solely Pakistan-focused. » Addressing ties with Afghanistan, he said, “Afghanistan is our brotherly neighboring Islamic country, and Pakistan has always sought better relations with it. »
He, however, stressed that Pakistan’s disagreements with Afghanistan stemmed only from “the presence of miscreants in Afghanistan and cross-border terrorism, which must be addressed.”
General Munir clarified that there were no plans for large-scale military operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding: “No area of Pakistan is under the control of these miscreants. Targeted intelligence-driven operations are conducted as needed.
He called for unity against terrorism, saying: “The state must take precedence over politics. If the state is compromised, nothing else will be left. We must be united, without bias, to confront terrorism.
The army chief also stressed the importance of learning from past mistakes. “Humans are fallible, but failing to recognize and learn from mistakes is a bigger mistake,” he said.
Regarding the National Action Plan, he welcomed the consensus among political parties, but called for accelerated efforts to effectively implement its provisions.
