Pink Floyd: Live in Pompeii – MCMLXXII comes to 4K Blu-ray thanks to Sony Music Vision and is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026.
The iconic 1972 concert film, which features tracks such as Echoes, One of these days And A saucer full of secretsreceives the 4K treatment, which is restored from the original 35mm footage. It promises enhanced colors, fine details and “each frame has been meticulously examined and repaired by hand,” with restoration efforts led by Lana Topham, Pink Floyd’s restoration director.

For sound, three mixes are offered: Dolby Atmos, stereo and 5.1. The new home entertainment mix from Steven Wilson (of Porcupine Tree) improved the soundtrack, but Wilson aimed to “stay true to the way the band would have sounded in 1971”.
This 4K release follows a big 2025 for the group. Pink Floyd: Live in Pompeii – MCMLXXII returned to theaters around the world this spring, and a 50th anniversary edition of the band’s iconic album wish you were Here was released in December with a new Dolby Atmos mix.
The 4K Blu-ray is available for pre-order now and can be pre-ordered here. Prices are expected to be $32.99/£29.99 (around AU$49.99). Pink Floyd: Live in Pompeii MCMLXXII is also available on CD, Vinyl and Blu-ray.
The arrival of 4K Blu-ray musical films
While physical media has struggled in recent years, 4K Blu-ray certainly still seems to be finding its audience. Every time I visit my local HMV store here in the UK, the 4K Blu-ray section seems to get bigger, with more limited editions like The Criterion Collection and Arrow filling the shelves.
So it’s no surprise that with the enthusiastic support of 4K Blu-ray and the rise of Dolby Atmos and spatial audio music, more and more concert films are coming to 4K Blu-ray, providing a premium home theater experience.
Pairing one of these discs with the best TVs and soundbars leads to magic, as I discovered while viewing Hans Zimmer: Live in Prague as part of the July 2025 Bounty Blu-ray.
Pink Floyd now joins the growing list of artists bringing iconic concert films to 4K Blu-ray, which already includes Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, the Rolling Stones and Prince.
