Roborock announced a few new robot vacuums at CES 2026, including one with long-legged stilts that allow it to simply lift up and walk over any type of uneven terrain. But the one that I think will prevail in the general market is the Saros 20 – the successor to the exceptional Roborock Saros 10R. The 10R was one of the best robot vacuums we tested in 2025, but the 20 is even better.
At the risk of confusing everyone, the two versions also have sister models: the Saros 10 and the new Saros 20 Sonic (the slight name change is the result of some copyright complications, I’m told). The main distinguishing feature is the mop pad type: the 10R and 20 both have dual, rotating mop pads, while the 10 and 20 Sonic have a D-shaped pad. A Roborock representative shared with me that they found the dual-rotating mop style to be by far the most popular, so it looks like the Saros 20 will be the one to watch among the new additions.
1. It can hover over your carpet
The big news is that the Saros 20 has a new version of Roborock’s AdaptiLift feature. It’s basically all the technology surrounding the little feet that propel the robot vacuum past high thresholds. On the upgraded version, not only can the robot take even taller steps (it can handle single steps up to 1.77 inches/4.5 cm in height, or a double step totaling 3.34 inches/8.5 cm), it also uses the feet to improve its cleaning performance on thick carpets.
Once turned on in the app, the Saros 20 has a feature that allows it to hover at exactly the right height to effectively clean a high-pile carpet without getting stuck. It has eight different height options, and the robot will intelligently choose the one that suits the thickness of the carpet it’s facing. Roborock claims it can support a pile of up to 1.18 in/3 cm.
2. He will be able to exchange his mops
This one isn’t here yet, but it’s on the way: the Saros 20 will be able to switch between different mops for different areas of the house. Like its predecessor, the 20 features two rotating circular mop pads that attach magnetically.
However, Roborock is now introducing multiple types of pads for different scenarios, as well as a dock that can automatically dispense the right pair of pads for the situation. The robot will be able to automatically deposit its old tampons and retrieve a new pair if necessary, for efficient cleaning without cross-contamination between areas.
This isn’t a new idea – Dreame launched a mop swap station in September 2025 (read our full Dreame Matrix10 Ultra review for more information), and the Roborock version is essentially the same. At CES, Roborock showed a version of the mechanism with a transparent front, but not the actual final dock. A representative assured me that the Saros 20’s mop swap dock was completed and ready to go, and I had a feeling it was the Saros 20 Sonic’s equivalent dock that might hold things up.
3. The dock will not show your dirty fingerprints
The Saros 10R comes with a glossy mirrored dock which I love the look of. However, I admit that it’s not the most practical choice for busy households: the glossy finish makes smudges and fingerprints look particularly bad. So it makes sense that Roborock opted for a less glamorous but more functional finish on the Saros 20’s dock. It’s simply matte black plastic, but promises to be much more fingerprint-friendly than its predecessor.
There are other tweaks and improvements under the hood. Notably, suction has received another boost: the Saros 20 can deliver a ridiculous 35,000 Pa, compared to 20,000 Pa on the Saros 10R. And on top of the upgrades, you still get all the best parts of the excellent 10R, from automatic lifting of brushes and mops (depending on floor type) to washing mop pads in hot water and drying with hot air.
The Roborock Saros 20 will begin its international rollout this year. Exact dates and prices are to be confirmed, and I will have a full review with you as soon as possible.
