Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Chinese Minister of State for Public Security and Head of the Special Services Bureau Ling Zhifeng reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening counter-terrorism cooperation and deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries during a meeting at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Naqvi is representing Pakistan at the UN Police Chiefs Summit 2026, which will be held on July 7-8 at the UN headquarters in New York. The summit brought together interior ministers, police chiefs and senior UN officials from around the world to discuss how UN police can better respond to evolving peace and security challenges, while strengthening international cooperation against transnational crime.

On the sidelines of the summit, Naqvi is also holding a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from several countries.

The two ministers agreed to expand their cooperation on internal security, emphasizing the need for closer collaboration in the areas of border management, illegal immigration and counter-narcotics efforts.

Naqvi said it was necessary to end the financing of terrorism at all levels and called for joint action against countries involved in supporting and financing terrorist groups.

He said Pakistan was keen to further strengthen security cooperation with China and noted that a special protection police force had been established to ensure the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan.

The Interior Minister also highlighted the importance of people-to-people contacts in strengthening bilateral relations, saying visa facilitation was essential in this regard.
