Senior bureaucrat Muhammad Rashid Hanif has been appointed as secretary of the information department of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government, according to a notification issued by the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) on Sunday.
Hanif started his career in 1999.
A law graduate from Punjab University, Lahore, he has held various key positions including Deputy Secretary and Additional Secretary in the S&GAD and Finance departments.
He also served as Special Secretary to the Prime Minister of AJK and Special Secretary Health.
In addition, Hanif also served as Director General of DG Tourism, Secretary for Sports, Youth and Culture and Secretary for Information Technology and IT.
He is known for advocating institutional reforms focused on improving public service delivery.
Speaking to The Express PK Press Club, Hanif said that the current era is dominated by digital media and alongside traditional print and electronic platforms, greater importance should be given to digital media.
He highlighted the need to promote quality content that promotes national integration and highlights human rights violations committed by Indian occupying forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
He added that the information department would be placed on a rapid development path to reach a wider audience by effectively utilizing all its available resources.
