- Leaked images apparently show the DJI Mavic 4 Pro’s redesigned bulbous camera module
- Leaks Spotted DJI’s New LiDAR Feature May Be Missing
- No launch date suggestions yet
A recently leaked image apparently gives us the most detailed look at the DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone’s camera module, and it takes on a new form compared to that of the Mavic 3 Pro.
The Mavic 3 Pro is our favorite high-end camera drone and is the first consumer drone with a triple camera module, which we awarded as Camera of the Year 2023. It features an angular module with 24-inch lenses. mm, 70 mm and 166 mm for different perspectives. The leaked Mavic 4 Pro also appears to have a triple camera module, but it looks quite different.
What’s most clear from the leaked images shared by reliable leaker @QuadroNews on X (formerly Twitter) is that the Mavic 4 Pro’s Hasselblad-branded camera module is larger and bulbous. This could mean two things.
One improvement could be improved image quality, although we don’t know if there are all-new image sensors for all three cameras. The Mavic 3 Pro has a 24mm main camera with a large 20 MP four-thirds sensor, a 3x 1/1.3-inch telephoto lens, and a 7x telephoto lens with a smaller 1/1.3-inch sensor. 2 inch. However, the physically larger unit in the leaked images at least suggests improved lenses.
The gimbal-mounted camera module in the leaked images (see below) also appears to stick out more and looks like it could benefit from a greater range of motion. This is good news for Mavic 3 Pro owners who are complaining about the limitations of its gimbal.
Aside from the improvements we could expect from the Mavic 4 Pro, there are also suggestions that it will be missing a new feature that debuted in the DJI Air 3S.

Function over form?
DJI leaker @QuadroNews suggests that the Mavic 4 Pro will miss LiDAR, a new feature in the Air 3S that improves its object detection performance, especially in low-light conditions. However, this rumor is based on the leaked image of what could be an early prototype – there’s no word yet on a launch date – and this feature could therefore end up in a final version.
The general sentiment among DJI fans responding to the leaked images is positive regarding potential camera improvements – while previous rumors also suggest improved battery life – but they are less enthusiastic about the look of the Mavic 4 Pro, and I have to agree. .
Of course, a prototype won’t have the smoothness of a finished product, but based on the leaked images, DJI has prioritized function over form – the Mavic 4 Pro appears to be a beastly professional drone .
Early discussions were that the Mavic 4 Pro would launch alongside the new DJI Flip. However, the Flip alone was announced today, and speculation about the Mavic 4 Pro’s launch date is quiet at the moment, suggesting we have a little more time to learn more about its new module. potentially leading camera in its category.
