Security forces killed four terrorists during an intelligence operation in Spinwam area of ​​North Waziristan, the army’s media wing said on Wednesday.

The operation, carried out on the intervening night of January 14-15, targeted the terrorists’ hideout after credible intelligence reports confirmed their presence, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During a fierce exchange of fire, four terrorists were neutralized, he said, adding that security forces also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the site.

The ISPR said the terrorists were involved in several terrorist activities against security forces and targeted killings of innocent civilians.

Following the operation, mine clearance activities were launched in the area to eliminate all remaining threats. The ISPR reiterated the Army’s determination to eradicate terrorism and ensure peace and stability across the country.

“Pakistan security forces remain steadfast in their commitment to eradicate the threat of terrorism,” the statement added.

Yesterday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited Peshawar where he met political leaders of various parties in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to discuss ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.

During the meeting, he stressed that while adversaries may attempt to sow fear and instability, Pakistani security forces will not back down and will respond decisively to any efforts to disrupt peace in the country, Express News reported.

According to an ISPR statement, General Munir was received by Corps Commander Peshawar on his arrival in the city. He was briefed in detail on the current security situation, including the ongoing counter-terrorism operations against the extremist group “Khawarij” and other threats.

During the visit, the Army Chief praised the sacrifices and determination of the Pakistan Army and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism. He noted that the country’s security forces had achieved exemplary successes in the fight against terrorism, making the nation proud of their efforts.

He highlighted the significant progress made in weakening terrorist groups, with the elimination of key leaders and the destruction of their networks, sending a strong message that there is no place for terrorism in Pakistan. He reassured that this fight will continue to its logical conclusion.
