A petition seeking legal action against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been filed in the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad over the violence during the November 26 protest.

The petition, filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, was heard by Sessions Judge Azam Khan, Express News reported.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar has emerged as the complainant in the case.

PTI lawyer Khurram Khosa urged the court to rectify the list of names as lawyer Gohar’s name was included in the complaint. The lawyer further requested that the names of two deceased victims be added to the list.

The petition highlights the violent clashes that occurred during the demonstration, which left people injured and dead, including two people. The petition also includes autopsy reports and other relevant documents to support the case.

The court adjourned the hearing and postponed it to January 29.

Addressing the media outside a sessions court in Islamabad, lawyer Gohar said all possible cases against the former prime minister have been filed, Express News reported.

He added that the country’s democracy and political stability require the immediate release of political detainees.

Referring to a private hearing of a complaint in court, he said the PTI had submitted data on its 12 martyrs and 49 injured workers, with two more casualties reported among the injured.

He stressed that the legal process would continue and that the party remained committed to seeking justice for its members.

Lawyer Gohar revealed that the third round of negotiations with the government is planned, during which the PTI will present its demands in writing. He expressed optimism that positive results would be achieved if the government approaches the negotiations with sincerity and goodwill.

“Democracy thrives on dialogue, not discord,” said Barrister Gohar. He stressed the importance of genuine engagement to resolve current political problems and restore stability.

Lawyer Gohar reiterated his confidence in the negotiation process, saying: “We hope that the negotiations will end soon with good news for the nation. »
