The Madison: key information
– Premieres on Paramount+ March 14
– Season 1 consists of six episodes, no release schedule confirmed
– With Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams and Elle Chapman
– Described as “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a family from New York to the Madison River Valley of central Montana”
– Season 2 already renewed
Saddle up, guys. Taylor Sheridan never misses a day of work in her life, which means we have more of her TV shows than we know what to do with. Landman season 2 may be over, but new Yellow stone spin-off The Madison is only a few weeks away.
“There are parallels in the scope of the landscape and the place of the human being in that space, but we approach it from a completely different point of view.”
Plot! We don’t know exactly how the two series are related, but that doesn’t mean we’re completely in the dark. For the full debrief before The Madison is coming to Paramount+, read on.
Madison release date
Look on it
The Madison is only a few weeks away at the time of writing, slated to premiere on March 14.
We know that Season 1 will consist of six episodes, but we currently don’t know how many of them will be released on premiere day, or when the others will be released. If you ask me, my money is going toward a one-episode premiere, with weekly drops afterward.
Remember, season 2 of The Madison has already been given the green light, so we won’t be left without too long.
The Madison trailer: is there one?
Unfortunately no. The date announcement video above and early images are all we have so far, but I would expect a full trailer to be available at some point in February.
In other words, keep your eyes open.
The casting of Madison
As you would expect, the cast of The Madison is absolutely star-studded. Our main cast members are the Clayburn family, with other regular roles listed corresponding to their lives.
- Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn
- Kurt Russell as Preston Clyburn
- Patrick J. Adams as Russell McIntosh
- Elle Chapman as Paige McIntosh
- Beau Garrett as Abigail Reese
- Amiah Miller as Brigitte Reese
- Alaina Pollack as Macy Reese
- Matthew Fox as Paul
- Kevin Zegers as Cade
- Danielle Vasinova as Kestrel
- Ben Schnetzer as Van
- Rebecca Spence as Liliana
- Will Arnett as Stacy’s therapist
If the teaser video for the date announcement is to be believed, Stacy Clyburn appears to be living in Montana with her family looking for a fresh start after suffering an unknown tragedy in New York. It remains to be seen how important all the others are, but we know a little more about them.
- Stacy Clyburna formidable New York matriarch and mother to Paige and Abigail
- Preston Clyburnhusband of Stacy and patriarch of the family

- Paige McIntoshthe somewhat self-centered New York wife of investment banker Russell

I would expect even more new characters to be announced for the show’s second season.
Madison’s Plot
Here is the official logline for The Madison: “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a family from New York to the Madison River Valley of central Montana.”
You may remember that the show was originally called Yellowstone 2024with Matthew McConaughey rumored to be in the lead role. The project later changed its name to simply Madison, with ties to McConaughey seemingly cut off.
At this point, the working synopsis stated that the series would follow “wealthy matriarch Stacy Clayburn and her family as they leave New York and head to Montana following the tragic deaths of her husband and brother-in-law in a plane crash.”
It’s unclear how true this previous synopsis might be, and its connections to the main Yellowstone series are also unclear. No casting for McConaughey has ever been confirmed.
Where is The Madison located in the Yellowstone timeline?
Obviously, we accumulate quite a few Yellow stone series now. If you wanted to watch them all in chronological order, it’s here The Madison fits into:
- 1883
- 1923
- 1944 (unpublished)
- Yellow stone
- Dutton Ranch (released in 2026)
- Y: marshals (released March 2)
- The Madison
- 6666 (unpublished)
We’re doing a bit of guesswork when it comes to anything that happens after Yellowstone, because it’s assumed that it will have direct fallout. Y: marshals And Dutton Ranch will pick up exactly where Yellowstone left off.
We know with certainty that The Madison takes place after Yellow stone…we just don’t know exactly how long after that.
1944 is unpublished, but its title tells us everything we need to know about its derivative investment. 6666 It’s what we know the least about, but it’s pronounced “Quatre Six”. Former Yellowstone rancher Jimmy Hurdstorm (Jeffrey White) is expected to be sent there to learn how to be a cowboy, which could happen at any time.
