New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo said rookies are built differently these days, but he wasn’t talking about their play on the field. He was referring to their attitudes.
Skattebo, who just finished his rookie season, said players coming out of college think they’re “hot” because they’re entering the NFL having already made a lot of money through NIL in college.
“The recruits coming in made $2 million to $3 million in college, like they thought they were sexy,” Skattebo said during a recent appearance on the “Roommates Show.”
“For example, there might be a veteran who has been in the league for three or four years, and that rookie might have come from college and already made more money than him.”

Skattebo said he doesn’t talk about any of the Giants’ rookies, but he has seen rookies who have made money come into the NFL with a sense of entitlement.
“You can see it by the way these students are behaving now,” Skattebo said. “There are people who act well, others don’t care if there was ever a rookie situation.”

Skattebo said veterans say rookies aren’t listening compared to years ago. The 23-year-old said he was a “good trick” and did what was asked of him.
“I have rookie duties because I’m a rookie, and I’m not going to sit here and say, ‘No, fuck you.’ If my vets tell me to go get snacks for the running back room for weeks and weeks, I’m going to go get the snacks,” Skattebo said.
“Some recruits will tell you, ‘Brother, I’m not going to offer you snacks, brother. You can go get your own snacks.’ I won’t say any names, but there are rookies who do this. »

Skattebo, a fourth-round draft pick out of Arizona State, endeared himself to Giants fans with his style of play. In eight games before a season-ending injury, Skattebo had totaled 410 yards and five touchdowns on the ground while averaging just over four yards per carry.
He also had 24 catches for 207 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
