Death toll rises to six in DI Khan suicide attack

The suicide bomber was identified as Abdul Rehman Afghani, believed to have been born in Pakistan around 2003 or 2004.

DI KHAN:

The death toll in a suicide attack at a wedding ceremony in Dera Ismail Khan has risen to six people, including the head of a local peace committee, while seven others were injured, officials said on Saturday.

The attack took place on Friday evening near Qureshi Mor, during the wedding celebrations. A suicide bomber detonated explosives in the middle of the gathering, causing panic and devastation at the scene.

Those killed in the blast were identified as Peace Committee chief Abdul Waheed, also known as Jagri; lawyer Abdul Majeed Lagari; entrepreneur Rehmanullah; Shahzad Abdulai; Inayatullah; and Chhota Waheed. The injured are Waris Khan, Noor Alam Masood, Tauheedullah, Rehman Khan, Sohail Khan Barki and Nazidullah. The injured were transferred to nearby hospitals, where some are said to be in critical condition.

According to preliminary investigation reports, the bomber was identified as Abdul Rehman Afghani, who was believed to have been born in Pakistan around 2003 or 2004. Investigators said his parents had emigrated from Afghanistan and were living in a refugee camp near Kohat.
