The army has rejected recent comments by the Indian army chief claiming that Pakistan is an “epicenter” of terrorism, calling the accusations baseless and an attempt to divert attention from India’s actions in Jammu -and Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IOJK).
In a strong statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stressed that such remarks are contrary to facts and an exercise in futility, reiterating that they reflect extreme duplicity.
The ISPR accused India of using these claims to overshadow state-sponsored brutality in IOJK, where the Indian military has been criticized for human rights violations.
The statement further claimed that the Indian army chief’s remarks were politically motivated, citing his involvement in overseeing the crackdown during his tenure in the IOJK. “The world is witnessing India’s conclaves of hate speech causing genocide against Muslims and its oppressive policies targeting minorities,” the ISPR said.
Pakistan also highlighted what it described as India’s “transnational repression” and use of force against unarmed Kashmiris, saying such actions have only strengthened their resolve for self-determination in accordance with UN resolutions.
Highlighting a recent incident, the ISPR noted that a serving Indian military officer detained in Pakistan was allegedly caught orchestrating terrorist activities, a fact it said was being ignored by Indian leaders.
Urging professionalism and civic-mindedness, Pakistan called on Indian military leaders to focus on constructive state-to-state behavior rather than pursuing political agendas.
Earlier in the day, security forces killed four terrorists during an intelligence operation in Spinwam area of North Waziristan, the army’s media wing said on Wednesday.
The operation, carried out on the intervening night of January 14-15, targeted the terrorists’ hideout after credible intelligence reports confirmed their presence, according to the ISPR.
During a fierce exchange of fire, four terrorists were neutralized, he said, adding that security forces also recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from the site.
The ISPR said the terrorists were involved in several terrorist activities against security forces and targeted killings of innocent civilians.
Following the operation, mine clearance activities were launched in the area to eliminate all remaining threats. The ISPR reiterated the Army’s determination to eradicate terrorism and ensure peace and stability across the country.
“Pakistan security forces remain steadfast in their commitment to eradicate the threat of terrorism,” the statement added.
