A police official claims he was “half-fried” by a bullet in the leg during an on-stage confrontation and accused in a case by an SHO who demanded two million rupees as bribe but accepted Rs 300,000 thanks to the intervention of a wadera. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Syed Asghar Ali Shah of Larkana Police Training College has accused the Rahuki police of shooting him in the leg during a staged encounter, allegedly at the behest of an influential landlord. He called on the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court and senior officials to order transparent investigations and provide justice. Addressing a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club, Shah claimed that around 20-25 policemen led by ASI Irfan Sapio, who was allegedly in an inebriated state, raided his house in Tando Haider late in the night without a warrant or women police. He alleged that the police officers violated the women’s privacy, vandalized the house under the pretext of a search and subjected men, women and children to brutal violence. Shah further said that he, along with his nephews and a domestic worker, were blindfolded and kidnapped, and his parked vehicle was also taken away. He alleged that the police later demanded Rs 2 million for his release. When he refused, he was blindfolded, taken to an unknown location and shot in the leg in what he described as a "half-fried" attempt.
