Kerry Katona was rushed to hospital with a medical emergency after falling ill with a previously undiagnosed intestinal illness.
The former Atomic Kitten star took to Instagram to update fans on her condition, revealing she spent the night at her local hospital, where she was diagnosed with colitis, a painful inflammation of the inner lining of the colon.
Katona, 45, visibly upset, confirmed the diagnosis and told her followers that she had been forced to sleep in a corridor due to overcrowding.
She said: “Hey guys, it’s 2:10 in the morning and I’ve been at the hospital since yesterday – yesterday morning. It’s very full so unfortunately I’m on a bed in the hallway.
“I have something called colitis – something to do with my gut. So it’s been shit – excuse the pun. I haven’t slept since yesterday, the day before yesterday. I’m in the right place.
A long-term illness, colitis generally presents with cramps, severe abdominal pain and chronic diarrhea, sometimes passed with blood, pus or mucus.
It comes after Kerry’s best friend Katie Price tied the knot for the fourth time to entrepreneur Lee Andrews in an intimate ceremony this weekend, just days after her engagement.
It’s now claimed Katie’s family are deeply concerned about the speed of the relationship and are preparing to sit her down for a “serious discussion” about her marriage.
