ISLAMABAD:

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has started the formal process of introducing new solar net metering regulations by scheduling a public hearing on the proposed Prosumer Regulations 2025, inviting stakeholders and the general public to submit their views.

The authority set the request for a hearing and decided to hold a public consultation on the proposed regulations, which aim to govern consumers who produce and consume electricity through solar systems.

The public hearing will be held on February 6 and NEPRA has invited all stakeholders and citizens to present their views.

A copy of the draft Prosumer 2025 Regulations has been made available on the official NEPRA website for public review.

NEPRA also held a public hearing on Thursday on an application filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA). CPPA told NEPRA that national electricity consumption increased by 22 percent compared to the same period last year, mainly due to higher demand from the industrial and agricultural sectors.
