The U.S. government partially shut down just 11 weeks after the previous shutdown, which lasted 43 days, the longest in U.S. history.
Although President Donald Trump struck a deal with Democrats and had it approved by the Senate to fund most agencies through September. The government has been shut down as the bill must now be approved by the House of Representatives, which is not in session.
This closure should not last very long, since the House of Representatives is scheduled to resume its sessions on Monday, February 2, 2026.
