The official trailers for Avengers: Apocalypse And Spider-Man: A Whole New Day will not will receive their world premieres during this year’s Super Bowl.
That’s according to Deadline, whose sources indicated that Marvel and Sony will not release new teasers for two of the most anticipated new films of 2026 during Super Bowl LX, which takes place on Sunday, February 8.
With Spider-Man: A Whole New Day slated for release on July 31, excitement over its first trailer has grown in the run-up to this year’s Super Bowl. Indeed, following Spider-Man 4‘s first teaser leaked online last December and rumors that Brand new dayWith the inaugural trailer expected to arrive in mid-January, fans are increasingly convinced that its first images will be revealed this Sunday.
Meanwhile, on the backs of four Avengers: Apocalypse teasers released between December 19, 2025 and January 9, 2026, Marvel enthusiasts have also speculated that its first trailer will be released during the 2026 Super Bowl. Avengers 5 won’t be released until December 18 – more than 10 months after this year’s edition of the NFL title showdown.
Why won’t the trailers for Avengers: Doomsday and Spider-Man 4 debut during the 2026 Super Bowl?
Deadline’s report, however, threw cold water on the chances of either wish being granted.
The American media claimed that Disney had reserved Super Bowl advertising spots for the next Star Wars film,The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Pixar’s 2026 big screen offerings Hoppers And Toy Story 5. However, Marvel, which has regularly released trailers for its upcoming films during previous editions of the Super Bowl, would be absent this year. Deadline hasn’t explained why this is likely the case, but, with doomsday still 10 months away from release, it’s possible that a trailer simply isn’t ready for release yet.
Deadline reported that Spider-Man: A Whole New Day will also be absent from the debates. However, given that Sony hasn’t released a single Super Bowl trailer in many years, this isn’t as big of a shock as it seems to many.
Regardless, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) fans have understandably reacted with disappointment that trailers for the Marvel Phase 6 pair will be conspicuous by their absence. Discussions on Reddit pages, including r/marvelstudios, r/marvelstudiospoilers, and r/movies, are littered with comments from those whose hopes were dashed by Deadline’s report.
Of course, Marvel and/or Sony could surprise us and release trailers for the next adventures of the Avengers and Spider-Man. Given Deadline’s ultra-reliable track record for scoops, I’d be stunned if footage from one or both films actually aired during this year’s Super Bowl.
