There is some concern for New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye ahead of Super Bowl LX, but the second-year signal-caller isn’t worried about his injury designation.
Maye started the week in Santa Clara with a shoulder ailment, although he and his coaching staff downplayed its severity before the big game.
“I feel good. I’ll be fine,” Maye said on Super Bowl opening night, via NFL.com. “I threw a good chunk. I threw as much as I would in a normal practice. I felt good and I was looking forward to getting back out there Wednesday and Thursday for practice and Friday to get ready for a normal week of preparation.”

Maye was officially listed as questionable during the Patriots’ bye week before heading west. He also struggled with illness. But he said he had “turned a corner” since landing in San Francisco on Sunday.

“I felt good after the flight and the launch today. I think I turned a corner and I really had no doubt about being 100 percent for the game, it’s the Super Bowl,” he said. “We have two weeks to prepare and do whatever it takes to get it right. I have confidence and I feel good.”
There is no doubt that Maye, an MVP candidate this year, will do everything possible to be 100% for Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium.

Maye enters this contest as the youngest potential starting quarterback to ever win a Super Bowl. Dan Marino is the youngest quarterback to play in the game ever, beating Maye by 49 days, but he couldn’t win in 1984.
Head coach Mike Vrabel trusts his second-year quarterback to get the job done despite struggling at times during these playoffs.
Vrabel said he likes the way the ball is coming out of Maye’s hands during practice so far.

“I thought the ball came out well. I thought it was a sharp drive for Drake and everyone,” he said.
