- Ultrasonic Audio’s wall-mounted PA systems have been in the making for four years
- The Slovenian company has distribution agreements in 18 countries; says UK and Australia ‘coming soon’
- Prices for the H2O model start from $4,472, but you can “design your own”
Remember in chemistry class when you learned to draw a water molecule because it contained one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms, linked together by strong polar covalent bonds?
I can still hear my science teacher yelling, “Remember! Covalent bonds are happy bonds”, and “happy” is definitely how I would be if I could install the Flora 5 (main image) and H2O (pictured below) on various feature walls in my home.
What you’re looking at is Molecule, a wall-mounted, modular hi-fi audio system made by Slovenian audio specialist Ultrasonic Audio, after almost four years of research and development.
Its makers say it can include up to 10 active speakers and a power unit, connected in a user-defined pattern (Mother Nature isn’t good enough for you, eh?) and the company will happily invite you to “design your own” on its site, which is fun. After that, you can request a quote for your creation – which might not be so fun.
Great Chemistry
The Molecule audio system is, say its creators, designed to “create a balance between visual aesthetics and high-fidelity audio.”
The finishing materials are largely natural (copper and wood either Slovenian walnut or American walnut) and you can choose between large speakers (depth: 108 mm; diameter: 350 mm; weight 3.5 kg) and small speakers (depth: 108 mm; diameter: 300 mm; weight 3 kg) as well as large and small copper power supplies, splitters and connecting tubes with the possibility of a lighter or lighter patina. dark.
In addition to the Molecule power unit’s two RCA connectors and a 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth is also built in, so you can simply send audio to your Molecules from your phone.
So how much will all this cost? Well, for the relatively gem-like H2O model, prices start at $4,472 (which would be around £3,270 or AU$6,382 before straight-up), but there’s some scalability here. It is difficult to overlook the potential of this system a lot bigger – I’m thinking of “huge wall of sound” configurations…
