- Support for Netflix streaming app will soon be removed from PS3
- 19 year old console users receive messages when they start the app
- Netflix will be removed from the PS3 on March 2, 2026
After 16 years of support, Netflix will be removed from the PlayStation 3 on March 2, 2026, as spotted by IGN.
In case you didn’t know – because I certainly didn’t – Netflix was made available on the PS3 in 2009 via Blu-ray disc before the native app was added to the console in 2010.
For 16 years, users who were still using their PS3 could enjoy their favorite shows on the streaming service, but unfortunately the Netflix app will be removed next month.
Users who try to launch the app see a message saying: “Unfortunately, Netflix will no longer be available on this device after March 2, 2026.”
The reaction from those still using the 19-year-old console has been disappointing, with many unhappy that they can no longer use their PS3 to watch Netflix content on a native 4:3 screen.

“Sure, here’s the latest way to watch Netflix natively in 4:3,” said one user on the PS3 subreddit. “I guess I’m one of about 10 people disappointed by this haha. Netflix PS3 has been great for watching old shows on a 4:3 CRT without the black bars on the sides. I’m glad I was able to use it while I could and at least they warned haha.”
Another responded by saying: “Until Netflix is still on PS3.” You and me both.
“I’m actually impressed that it’s still supported. I would have thought they abandoned the PS3 years ago,” another user said.
One Reddit user pointed out that Amazon Prime Video is still supported, but now that Netflix has been phased out of older generation hardware, how long will that last?
