Fallout Season 3 Release Date Prediction
Amazon’s popular dystopian drama doesn’t yet have a set return date. However, To fall Season 3 was officially announced last May, so it has been in development for at least eight months.
Speaking to IGN last December, executive producer Jonathan Nolan revealed that principal photography could begin on To fall The third season of the TV show will also take place in mid-2026, before adding that he wants to get the series back “on air as soon as possible.” So it seems the cast and crew don’t want to make us wait three years.
But when might we see it? Filming for season 1 took seven months, while the sequel was filmed in just five months. From a post-production perspective, Season 1 launched 14 months after filming wrapped, while Season 2 arrived just seven months after its filming schedule ended. If – and it’s a big if – season 3 follows in the latter’s footsteps, it’s not strange to suggest that it could premiere in mid-2027.
Fallout Season 3 Trailer: Is There One?
No and there won’t be for a long time. Once a trailer is revealed, I will update this section.
Fallout Season 3 Cast: Confirmed and Rumored
Full spoilers follow for To fall season 2.
Based on how last season ended, here are the main cast members we expect to see To fall season 3:
- Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean
- Aaron Moten as Maximus
- Walton Goggins as The Ghoul/Cooper Howard
- Moises Arias as Norm MacLean
- Frances Turner as Barbara Howard
- Teagan Meredith as Janey Howard
- Johnny Pemberton as Thaddeus
- Annabel O’Hagen as Stephanie Harper
- Leslie Uggams as Betty Pearson
- Dave Register as Chet
- Rodrigo Luzzi as Reg McPhee
- Leer Leary as Davey
- Xelia-Mendes Jones as Dane
- Michael Cristofer as Quintus
- Justin Theroux as Robert House
- Macaulay Culkin as Legate of Lacerta
- Rachel Marsh as Claudia
I expect other supporting characters to also be back for more post-apocalyptic drama. Dale Dickey’s Ma June, Edythe Jason’s Barv and Barbara Eve Harris’ Captain Rodriguez had supporting roles to play throughout To fallThe television adaptation of. So there’s no reason why they shouldn’t come back next time.
To fall season 3 is also expected to continue with flashbacks focusing on Cooper and Barbara Howard. If so, we could also see the return of Dallas Goldtooth’s Charles Whiteknife, Clancy Brown’s Unnamed American President, and Michael Emerson’s Siggi Wilzig.
Considering that Kyle McLachlan’s Hank MacLean was a prominent figure throughout the show’s first two seasons, you might be wondering why I haven’t mentioned him until now. Well, there’s no guarantee he’ll come back. Of course, an aged McLachlan could continue to appear as a younger Hank in the aforementioned flashbacks I mentioned above. However, given what happened to him in last season’s finale, we might have seen the end of Hank in the present.
Fallout Season 3 Story Speculation
Major spoilers follow for To fall season 2.
To fall The story summary for season 3 has not been released yet. However, considering what happened in the finale of its predecessor – read my To fall End of Season 2 Explained article for a full breakdown of what happened – we can make some guesses about where things will go next.
Let’s start with Lucy and Maximus. The two were finally reunited in last season’s finale, titled “The Strip,” but new problems await them in New Vegas.
Not only are they in the middle of a potential war between Caesar’s Legion and the New California Republic for control of the city, but I’d be surprised if they aren’t forced to help Robert House at some point. We know that his digital consciousness is still alive and that House has a way of manipulating people to fit his agenda. So I wouldn’t be shocked if the duo found themselves involved in whatever nefarious plan they’re hatching.
As for The Ghoul, he goes to Colorado to find his family. I suspect his final stay in Wasteland will also be interspersed with flashbacks to before the Great War, which should show us the fallout from the arrest of Cooper Howard (i.e. The Ghoul’s human identity) after he took responsibility for the un-American actions the Cooper family took throughout Season 2.
There are many other plotlines that need to be addressed and/or resolved in To fall season 3. We need answers about where Norm and Claudia go next, what phase two of the Enclave’s plan is – you know, the one Steph initiated using the Black Pip-Boy – and how it will affect the residents of Vault 32, whether the Brotherhood of Steel will succeed in restarting the Liberty Prime superweapons program, and more about the Enclave’s endgame.
Then there are some big questions that last season’s eighth and final episode raised when it debuted on one of the world’s best streaming services.
With the revelation that Hank and Steph were secretly married, are Lucy and/or Norm really Steph’s real mother? If one or both of them are his children, what impact would being half-Canadian have on their self-esteem and, more importantly, the overall narrative?
Next up, with The Ghoul heading to Colorado, will we see elements of Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steela somewhat obscure real-time strategy title that’s part of Bethesda’s beloved video game franchise, referenced in Season 3?
As for Norm and Claudia, will the latter look at the former differently after he chose to save himself rather than help her during the radroaches attack? How will they find Claudia’s safe? If they can’t, what is their plan to survive on the surface? And will Norm one day discover the truth about his father?
Finally, as The Enclave becomes a bigger part of Amazon’s TV adaptation, will the series finally lift the lid on what it is and how it works for those who haven’t played any of the episodes. To fall games? Or will it continue to operate in the shadows until later in the TV series’ life cycle? I guess these last two queries depend on whether new seasons are created or not. Speaking of which…
Will there be a fourth season of Fallout?
We don’t know. However, given the success To fall has been, it is more likely than not that a fourth season will be developed.
Before the final episodes of season 2 aired, Deadline reported that To fall‘s second release was on track to become the fourth best-performing returning series on Prime Video. Its second season is also the sixth most-watched in the streamer’s history, with only To fall season 1, Reach seasons 1 to 3, and The Rings of PowerThe first two parts of are seen by more people.
Add to that Aaron Moten’s comments at Liverpool Comic-Con 2025 (per The Gamer) that it could last five or six seasons, there’s no reason to suspect that Amazon will end the hit TV series anytime soon. So expect more adventures through the Wasteland after season 3.
