NYT Strands today (game #704) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #704, are…
- DISTRICTS
- SENSE
- OCEANS
- VOWELS
- TOES
- DAYS OF THE WEEK
- SPANGRAM: GIVE ME FIVE
- My rating: Easy
- My rating: Perfect
The theme revealed some things today with its “quintessence” pun, although at first I thought maybe we were looking for five-letter words rather than things with five letters in them.
Seeing BOROUGHS put that notion to rest and immediately triggered memories of the Beastie Boys track. In the 5 districts. SENSES, for its part, automatically made me think of the film The sixth sense. OCEANS and VOWELS I got them by thinking of five other famous things, but I don’t think I would ever have arrived at toes or days of the week.
My favorite, with five elements, are the Olympic rings, which, given that the Winter Games start tomorrow, would have been a nice touch – but difficult to fit in.
