24 terrorists killed in two separate IBOs in KP: ISPR

The operations were carried out on February 4 and 5 following reports of a militant presence.

Twenty-four terrorists were killed in two separate intelligence-led operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

According to military media, the operations were carried out on February 4 and 5 following reports of a terrorist presence in Orakzai and Khyber districts.

In the first operation in Orakzai district, the ISPR said that security forces had indeed attacked a terrorist hideout. “During the operation, our own troops actually engaged the location of the khwarij and after an intense exchange of fire, fourteen khwarij were sent to hell,” the statement said.

A second intelligence-based operation was carried out in Khyber district, where security forces again engaged militants after an exchange of fire. The ISPR confirmed that “ten more khwarij were effectively neutralized” during the encounter.

The army said disinfection operations were underway in both areas to ensure no terrorists were present. “Disinfection operations are underway to eliminate any further Indian-sponsored khwarij found in the area,” the statement added.

Reaffirming its resolve, the ISPR said the security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue their efforts within the national counter-terrorism framework. The press release said that the campaign is part of the anti-terrorism drive carried out under the vision of Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Supreme Federal Committee under the National Action Plan, aimed at eliminating the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

Earlier, security forces killed 13 terrorists belonging to the banned group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in two separate intelligence-led operations in Kurram and Bannu districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state on January 15.

Last month, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, told a press conference that an extraordinary number of intelligence-led operations had been carried out across the country, reflecting both the scale of the threat and the state’s determination to confront it. “By 2025, complete harmony has been achieved between the State of Pakistan and its people on the issue of terrorism,” he said.
