Everything you need to know about the “final” GTA 6 release window

Rockstar Games has finally confirmed November 19, 2026 as the absolute release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) after years of delay.

The game was originally scheduled to launch in Fall 2025, then was postponed to May 26, 2026. This was also postponed, leading to the current deadline of November 2026 – the third publicly proclaimed deadline.

Now, publisher Take-Two Interactive and developer Rockstar appear to be firming up their belief that they will meet this latest date signifying a “completed content” status for the project.

The report states that marketing for the game will ultimately begin during the summer of 2026, which will begin with the launch during the holiday season.

The new title, which will allow the series to move to an updated Vice City in the state of Leonidas (a representation of Florida), is confirmed for release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles at launch.

It will be followed by a PC version, which has not yet been announced. The game will also not use generative AI technology, as Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed in a recent statement.

This new deadline will allow Rockstar to bridge a 13-year gap since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, delivering the game billed as the greatest map in the franchise’s history.

Even though the studios insist on the November date, the report is careful to mention that the game “will not be released until the developers feel it is ready”, leaving room for changes despite the current firm stance.
