Taylor Swift has officially released the music video for Opalitethe latest single from her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl.
And it’s already trending thanks to its nostalgic ’90s vibe, clever concept and sparkling array of celebrity cameos.
Swift reunited with cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, who previously worked with her on Too good: the short film.
The concept
Swift first teased Opalite after an appearance on The Graham Norton Show where she came up with the idea for the song while joking with actor Domhnall Gleeson.
Swift described the project as “an absolute pleasure creating this story and these characters.”
Written and directed by Swift herself, the video begins as a satirical commercial before transforming into a romantic comedy storyline.
Domhnall Gleeson plays Swift’s shy love interest whose life changes when she douses herself with the magic potion “Opalite”.
Celebrity cameos
Just like his iconic Bad blood video, Swift enlisted a star-studded lineup.
Oscar winner Cillian Murphy makes a subtle appearance that has fans buzzing, while Gleeson takes center stage opposite Swift.
Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi and Graham Norton join the party.
