But even more interesting is what Stockman also told the Toronto Star, addressing the possibility of a bonus episode or two before Season 2: “We’ll see what’s achievable. If Jacob Tierney can find a way to make the source material work in a way that allows us to get something sooner or something special, I’m sure he will do it.
“I would love to have this back for next year’s holidays, but that probably won’t happen. We can’t rush the process. We won’t be able to repeat the magic if we push it.”
Regarding the filming of Season 2, in an interview with Variety, series star Hudson Williams said, “Maybe someone told me July or August, but I really don’t know.” And when his co-star Connor Storrie appeared on the TODAY show in mid-January, he hinted that they would return to filming this summer.

Heated Rivalry Season 2 Story Synopsis
Full spoilers for Passionate rivalry season 1 to follow. Plus, potential spoilers for season 2.
Season 1 saw Shane and Ilya confront their passion for hockey and their passion for each other. They couldn’t mingle and so kept their relationship a secret from friends, family, and MHL. But, in the Season 1 finale, they couldn’t help but admit that they loved each other, thinking about what their lives could be like if they made it work.
And for season 2, series creator Jacob Tierney told Deadline that it will be based on The long gamewhich is the only other current book in Reid’s series focused on the relationship between Ilya and Shane.
Speaking to Variety, he explained what that would look like when it comes to translating it to our screens: “There are so many new characters that are going to be really fun to introduce. But I think next season will end up being different because it’s a more focused book. It takes place over a shorter period of time.”
Adding, “I’m hoping what happens, like any good second season in general, is that we can expand on the things that you already know and how these threads started, and then build on that and really dive into it. But I’m also really looking forward to seeing Ilya in therapy. That’s probably a really good thing for him.”
Of course you can take a look at The long game to get a really good idea of what’s to come, which is exactly what Williams and Storrie do in the renewal announcement video featured above. But don’t worry, it’s just a teaser.
Storrie reads from the pages: “Shane fell into her arms. The usual relief washed over him as they kissed for the first time in two weeks. I missed you, Ilya said unnecessarily,” as he winked at the camera.
Picking up the sixth volume in Reid’s series, the two men have hidden their relationship for ten years. And as the book’s synopsis says: “It’s time for them to decide what’s more important: hockey or love.” It’s time to make a call. » More hockey and more love? Sign us up.
Will there be more seasons of Heated Rivlary?
As previously mentioned, GQ revealed that Williams and Storrie have already signed on for three seasons of the series, so it seems pretty likely that there’s more to come. Of course, like any series renewal, it always depends on its performance, but with season 1 an immediate success, the chances look good.
More importantly, there is something important to note about Rachel Reid’s film. Game changers series on which the series is based. A new book is on the way. Book seven, Unrivaledhas a scheduled release date of September 29 – and it’s another one specifically focused on Ilya and Shane.
Without giving too much away with the official synopsis for Reid’s upcoming book, it’s a very good sign that there will be more source material on which to build a season 3. However, any news we hear about an official renewal, we’ll be sure to post it here.
