SAN FRANCISCO – The Super Bowl is the biggest game day of the year, and as it becomes more prevalent, there are plenty of other options available to you.
DraftKings, of course, took note of what fans might like, giving punter Johnny Avello a pretty fun job for Super Bowl LX and the entire season leading up to it.
It used to be that betting was simply spreads, moneylines, or over/unders, but Avello saw a trend and ran with it.

The accessories that really bring in the most money over the last two, three years? They would be touchdown scorers,” Avello told PK Press Club Digital on the radio.
“We started three or four years ago with the first touchdown scorer, and that was the bet: first touchdown scorer in every game. And now we are scorers at all times in every game, then two touchdown scorers, three touchdown scorers, and the last touchdown scorer. It’s the prop that has seen the most growth in the last two or three years.”
Avello also said he likes to dig deeper into next-gen stats, including fastest ball carrier, farthest ball thrown and other similar bets that can’t be determined simply from the box score.
The Super Bowl is also the king of prop bets, including the length of the national anthem, the color of Gatorade and other miscellaneous bets. But Avello decided to give in to NFL history for an available bet.

49ERS’ CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY AND BROCK PURDY TALK ABOUT DIVISION-RIVAL SEAHAWKS AHEAD OF SUPER BOWL: ‘HELL OF A TEAM’
“We set up a prop: Will the Seahawks attempt a one-yard pass and complete it?” Avello said, noting that this is a play on Super Bowl XLIX, which, like this year, featured the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots. This game, of course, is best known for Malcolm Butler’s interception of Russell Wilson at the 1-yard line with Marshawn Lynch in the backfield.
Avello said most of the spread bets are on the Seahawks favored to cover the 4.5-point spread, but many of the moneyline bets are on New England. And that wouldn’t be great for DraftKings.
“People who want to bet on the Patriots say, ‘I don’t need the 4.5 points.’ The Patriots are going to win right away.” That’s the main reason the Patriots are taking the underdog on the moneyline, Avello said. “So we’re kind of balanced in the game.”

“We have a little risk on the Patriots to win it all. We opened them up, like, 70-1 to win the Super Bowl, but we also opened up the Seahawks. But they didn’t take as much money as the Patriots. So we’re a little bit in danger there.”
