Charlie Puth helped kick off Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, with his rendition of the national anthem, and football fans flocked to social media to give him his flowers as a reward.
As some renditions of the national anthem have been criticized in the past, many believed that Puth pulled off his performance well.
“Charlie Puth fucking killed it,” one X user wrote.

Another added: “Charlie Puth sings the national anthem like he’s in the Baptist church, mixed with a bit of 80s RnB. One of my favorite anthems I’ve heard. [for real]”.
Even some viewers who aren’t fans of the Rumson, New Jersey native’s music came away impressed.

“Even though I’m not a big fan of his musical style, Charlie Puth is a brilliant musician,” posted one X user. “A little overproduced for my tastes, but he did a good job.”
Some, however, think that too much autotuning is being injected into its microphone.

“Charlie Puth was [fire emoji] but the sound engineer needs to be fired for applying so many automatic settings to someone who doesn’t need them,” wrote one X user.
“Charlie Puth is good enough to sing the national anthem without the insane amount of autotune he uses,” another added.
As Puth finished the anthem, a joint formation of eight ships from the U.S. Air Force and Navy flew over the stadium for the Super Bowl.
It’s also a celebration of America’s 250th birthday, which is an important part of this game.

Both teams wear America 250 patches on their uniforms, while there was a moment before the game recognizing America 250 with a large flag on the field and fans holding signs that resembled an American flag.
After Puth’s anthem ended, the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots began to determine who will win the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the 2025 NFL season.
